Number of open connections to the MySQL server

It may happen that we see on the server that a large number of connections are opened to the MySQL server which are not closed immediately and therefore remain open.
As the number of open connections increases, other websites using the same MySQL server may experience problems. You can think of sluggishness and poor accessibility of websites.

This is seen by us as abuse of the services you as a customer are using. When we notice this on the server we are forced to disable / remove the database user in the control panel. A ticket will be created in which we indicate this. We then ask you to investigate and resolve the problem. Once this is done you can create a ticket via the customer panel under your account asking us to reactivate the user.

Such a problem has nothing to do with the capacity of the MySQL server(s). Problems like too many open connections to the MYSQL server can be caused by, for example:

* Programming error(s) in the code of the website.
* Extensions, plug-ins, themes or components in applications like Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal etc.

If you have questions about this, you can always create a ticket or check if someone is present on the online chat.
