Delayed PayPal payment, what is it and what can I do about it?

PayPal customers are sometimes asked to provide additional information about their account. For example, it may be that 1 cent will be debited from your account along with a code. You can then enter this code in your PayPal account to improve your account status. Such verifications are done by PayPal to prevent fraud and abuse.

If PayPal asks you to provide additional information and you do not do so, PayPal calls this an 'unverified account'. In this situation, PayPal will not immediately release payments you make. PayPal then often withholds the payment for 1 or 2 weeks so that it can be sure that no fraud can take place. This is called a 'delayed payment'.

In these situations you think you have paid, but the amount is not yet released and therefore not yet credited to our account. The invoice will therefore still be open with us.

You can do three things:

1. Wait until the payment is released. The payment will be processed later and the account will be activated.

2. Go through PayPal's verification (check) process to advance the payment. This can also take a few days but is often faster than waiting for the payment to be released.

3. Make the payment through another method and create a ticket requesting that the PayPal payment be reversed as soon as it is credited.

If you have any questions about this, you can create a ticket or see if someone from the online chat is available. During office hours on weekdays, helpdesk staff is almost always available to answer your questions.
