This article explains the difference between a mail alias and an email account.

An email account has all the features to send and receive mail. You can use this account for example in the webmail of myhostingpartner.nl and in an email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird.
When you send or receive email it will always be within the email account to read / respond.

An email alias has the function of adding an extra email address without creating a completely different email box. All emails sent to the alias address will also arrive at the selected email address.
