Leveraging Social Media in 2023

In the world of Social Media, many thousands of links are shared from many thousands of companies, how can you rise above this for your website or business? That's what we are going to find out in today's blog. Read on quickly for all the tips and networks you can use to promote your website!

Where is your target audience?

A target audience can be unique to each hobby, interest or market you find yourself in. For example, there are differences and similarities between many different groups. Think of programmers and technical people who may be more on twitter or Github. And enthusiasts of art and photography will be more on Instagram. Your task as webmaster is to ensure that your Social Media activities can be found by the target group. And you need to find out where they are.

If you are in the industry or hobby you can also look at your own usage, if not you can go to all the websites on a Friday afternoon and see where the most audience is. Look for hashtags related to your industry and look at the groups that have formed. And the size of these, of course. The rule is often the more eyes on an ad or post, the more interaction there will be with it. However, this is not always the case, and has its snags. For example, a small but highly driven community may be worth more than a general Facebook group of many tens of thousands of members.

So look around and don't focus on 1 group when you are still in the early stages, but post once a week somewhere else as well. That way, with a few months, you can look back and see what made the most.

YouTube Shorts, a fairly recent and popular player on the market

YouTube will already be familiar to everyone, however, a fairly recent addition to this is the YouTube Short format. Movies that are set vertically and should be shorter than 60 seconds. With some experiments, in a test case we have already seen 17,000 impressions of an incredibly basic and short movie. So with YouTube shorts you can share great tips and tricks that you can use to attract a very large audience. This can be for your product, for your services or simply for your fun new blog post!

YouTube Shorts is, of course, YouTube's direct response to TikTok, which we'll talk more about in the next headline.

TikTok

TikTok is hugely popular among the younger generation, videos in a short format which can be viewed on the phone at any time. However, TikTok has a number of privacy violations and questions in the past and still is the order of the day. For that reason, we can only put the use of TikTok down to yourself, and ask whether you think it's worth taking privacy for granted in this one. The other parties certainly don't have clean hands in this either. So decide for yourself after some research whether you find it worth it to start using this Social Network.

Twitter

Twitter still has a huge user base among a diverse number of industries. However, this is often considered the somewhat more technical platform, and offers very much popularity to the cryptocurrency market and its other related fields. So with a blog or business service for Crypto, you can soon turn to Twitter to find your target audience in this.

With Twitter, however, you have a limit on the number of characters allowed , and are thus limited for longer posts. This might be an issue with some audiences, such as a book reviewer.

Facebook and Instagram

Facebook and Instagram are mentioned in one section, but they are two different types of social media. Where Facebook focuses more on building communities and sharing content in all formats. With Instagram, the focus is on imagery. Photos and videos in shorts are the content there that can appeal to thousands. Therefore, for a visual service industry like Photographer, video editors and many other industries, it has become the platform to share your latest projects and portfolio.

Reddit, forums and other options such as Pinterest

There are of course many other options to find a Social network for your target audience, it is often a matter of immersing yourself in the subject matter and where the users are to determine which networks are the best fit. For example, for everything and especially the American audience, there is a large user base on Reddit. For the Do It Yourselfers there is a large presence on Pinterest and there are still a lot of forums that are set up for a specific hobby. For example, consider a forum specifically for watch collectors. Options abound!
