Email and Hosting

One of the topics that still causes a lot of confusion for beginning (and sometimes more experienced) webmasters is the topic of email and hosting. When you choose to host with a company, do you automatically get an email account with the address jenaam@jouwwebsite.nl (or.com)? And if so, how does it work? If you have any of these questions - or any other question about email and hosting, you can find the answer below!

Do you automatically get an email address when you apply for hosting?

The answer to this question is simple: yes, nowadays it is possible with almost every hosting company to get your own email address with your hosting. Note that some offer this service for free, and some charge a small monthly fee, but it is almost always possible. Often it does take some time to set up your email - especially if it's the first time you're doing this. But we can of course help you if you get stuck in this process. We can even take care of the whole process for you. If you're having trouble with email and hosting - just let us know.

Benefits of email and hosting for your own website

Having your own email address for your own website has a number of advantages. Here is a short overview of the benefits of email and hosting:

  • More authority - imagine, you want to buy a new watch through a webshop and have a question about it to the owner of the webshop. Which store would you trust more: a webshop with the email address daviddevries@gmail.com or one with the email address salesmanager@juweliervanzanten.nl? The answer is simple. And that's how your customers see your website.
  • A separation between private and work (or different websites). Probably your private mailbox is already the victim of hundreds of emails (SPAM or otherwise). It would be a shame if you would miss an important email related to your website. Having your own email and hosting prevents this. Do you have more than one website? Have a separate email address for each website. This way you avoid confusion and you know exactly for which site each email is intended.

Setting up your own email

As mentioned earlier, setting up your own email and hosting is possible with most hosting providers. If you are experienced, you can often do this yourself using your cPanel. Log in and go to the icon that stands for email. Now you can create your own email here with the desired @yourwebsite address. And of course, if you have any problems with this - contact us and we will help you as soon as possible with setting up your own email and hosting.
