Google discontinues Chrome apps

Google announced in a blog post last Tuesday that they are going to stop allowing new Chrome apps in March. The apps that are currently still on the Chrome store can still be updated until 2020.

Earlier it was announced that Google would stop supporting this already in 2018.However, the company seems to have waited another 2 years before they actually did this.

How does this affect me?

You may now be wondering how this could possibly affect you.Further, this only affects you if you are using Chrome OS or a Chromebook.

Your hosting will not be altered or affected by this.If you use a Chromebook, the apps for it will be supported until June 2020.

If you own a business, you're a little luckier because it will be supported until December 2020.This gives you as a customer or business more time to switch operating systems.

If you use plug-ins on your Google Chrome, this will have no further impact.Browser extensions will continue to be supported, apps and extensions are both accessible through the store.

Accessing my website through Chrome

Google Chrome is currently the most widely used browser and therefore it is important that your website can run well on it.To make it as accessible as possible, it is important to test your website on different browsers.

If you are using a content management system such as WordPress you can be sure it will work almost anywhere.WordPress is in fact a system that is so popular that about 33 percent of the entire internet runs on WordPress.

You can easily put a website together within a few clicks. This makes WordPress hosting suitable for almost any browser.

Alternatives for WordPress

Of course you have other options besides WordPress, think for example of Joomla Hosting. This is a system that is very suitable to run on your website if you are not so enthusiastic about Wordpress.

Joomla is a system that runs best on SSD packages. This gives you incredibly fast hosting that is ideally set up for Joomla websites.

Besides Joomla there are also many other suitable systems such as Drupal or Umbraco.Keep in mind that for Umbraco hosting you need an ASP package.
