Can you build websites using Vibe?

Vibecoden uses AI to—in this case—develop a website as part of a completely normal conversation. This makes it easy for you to ensure, in a very targeted way, that you get exactly what you want.

All without being directly dependent on third parties. However, there are a few things to keep in mind, and this certainly isn’t the best approach for everyone. Let’s take a look at how it works in this blog post!

Is Vibecoden the Future?

Many players are jumping on the bandwagon, claiming that Vibecoden is the way of the future and that everyone in the IT industry will lose their jobs. In our opinion, we haven’t reached that point yet, but it will become increasingly difficult for newly trained junior developers.

Before you start with Vibecoden, it’s important to have a clear plan and your own vision. That’s because you have to give the AI clear instructions or requirements to achieve your goals.

Is it advisable to build websites with Vibecode?

Creating an entire website with Vibecode is certainly possible, but it’s not recommended in every situation. For example, do you want a complete e-commerce solution or complex features on a website? In that case, the project often becomes too large and too extensive to steer in the right direction. And often, this involves a larger project that’s too big and too complex for a beginner. It’s advisable to start small and keep the following points in mind:

It is not (yet) suitable for online stores

As soon as payments, as well as the storage and processing of customer data, are involved, additional responsibilities come into play. In such situations, it’s wiser to rely on existing, proven technologies backed by thousands of users. After all, if something goes wrong—which could even have legal consequences—it’s reassuring to know you’re not on your own. This is especially true when dealing with AI.

Build on Existing Technology

Instead of starting from scratch, you can also choose to build on existing technology. WordPress, for example, is a versatile and practical platform that ensures your website’s foundation and management are solid and straightforward. At the same time, you can still develop a theme or plugin using “Vibecoding” to incorporate completely custom elements.

The Risks

Developing your own site with AI also means you’re responsible for the website’s security. So be sure to give this aspect the attention it deserves and include specific instructions during your development phase that prioritize the application’s security. Issues such as SQL injections and database connections must be encrypted and sanitized. Certain input fields must also be secured. If your budget allows, it’s also advisable to have this reviewed by an expert.

In the event of a security breach, you often have no recourse and must either fix any errors yourself or bear the consequences. Therefore, ensure you have sufficient and secure backups and take steps to prevent problems. This includes, for example, customizing your application so that certain information is displayed and stored exclusively locally on the visitor’s device.

Vibecoding is still in its infancy, but developments are advancing at a rapid pace. It requires a new way of thinking: no longer typing every line of code yourself, but instead relying on vision, clear instructions, and strict control.

For small, manageable projects, it’s an ideal method for making rapid progress. For critical business processes, however, “old-fashioned” craftsmanship remains the safest choice.
