Activate the lightbox effect for interactive, full-screen images with just a simple click. Apply it globally or specifically to certain images to customize the viewing experience. So you can easily focus on, say, your beautiful wedding photos as a photographer. Or just your infographic as an entrepreneur.

Categorize and filter patterns

Organize your synchronized and unsynchronized patterns with categories. Explore advanced filtering options in the Patterns section of the add-in to find them more intuitively.

Unleash your creativity with new background images in Group blocks and ensure consistent aspect ratios with temporary aspect ratios. Want to add buttons to your Navigation block? Now you can do it easily without custom CSS. When working with synchronized patterns, alignment settings are preserved for a seamless pattern creation experience.

Introducing Block Hooks

Block Hooks is a powerful new feature that allows plugins to automatically insert blocks into content relative to another block. Think of it as recommendations to make your work with blocks more intuitive. A new "Plugins" panel gives you full control to customize them to your needs - adding, ignoring and rearranging Block Hooks as desired.

Performance

WordPress 6.4 includes more than 100 performance updates for a faster and more efficient experience. Improvements focus on template loading for Block Themes and Classic Themes, use of "defer" and "asynchronous" script loading strategies in core, blocks and themes, and optimization of autoloaded options.

Accessibility

Each release is dedicated to making WordPress accessible to everyone. 6.4 brings improvements to List View and aria-label support for the Navigation block, among other highlights. The administrator user interface (UI) includes improvements to button placement, "Add New" context menu items and Site Health voice messages.
