Linux hosting now also available at MijnHostingPartner

We had already launched it as a pilot project with our partner Webhoster.nl for a while, but now the Linux hosting packages have also been added to the standard offering of our main partner MijnHostingPartner.nl!

In this blog post, let's take a look at the possibilities these packages offer and how you can find the ideal home for your next project here!

Since 2008, we have been offering hosting packages specializing in Windows or IIS hosting. Over the years, we have often received requests to also offer Linux-based hosting packages. We are pleased to now be able to offer this to everyone in our permanent range at MijnHostingPartner.nl!

Why choose Linux?

It is, of course, a good question why you should choose Linux-based hosting. Here are a few reasons, although your own decisions about whether to choose IIS or Linux are ultimately decisive. Let us explain this in more detail below.

IIS Windows hosting

Choosing between IIS or Windows If you want to work with the latest .NET versions of Windows for your next application, then choose our special packages for this, the .NET Core packages. If you want to work with your own custom-built website or technology based on ASP.NET or MS-SQL, then choose one of our regular packages. These are marked on our homepage with Windows web hosting and ASP.NET Core hosting.

Linux web hosting

If you work with one of the well-known content management systems such as WordPress, TYPO3, Joomla, or Drupal, we recommend that you choose Linux web hosting. Here, no additional steps are required for many things and settings, as is the case with IIS hosting. This includes, for example, setting up and configuring your web.config file. Features such as the implementation of permalinks and optional components such as Imagick are also installed here by default. This means you will no longer see any messages about this in WordPress or other content management systems you use.

The most important developments for PHP-based content management systems take place under Linux, which is why this is also a logical choice.

More comprehensive caching with Varnish and Pagespeed

Another important advantage you get with Linux web hosting is advanced caching technology with Varnish and Pagespeed Caching. This can be activated and configured with a single click in the customer panel. These techniques ensure that your website is available to visitors more quickly once it has been set up. In short, your website will load faster and be available more quickly, with all the associated benefits.

Affordable prices and specifications

As you have come to expect from us, the Linux packages are once again affordable and divided into three packages for beginners, experienced, and demanding users. The main difference is in the size of the available storage, the number of databases, and the number of websites that can be hosted.

Even the most affordable package allows you to host two domain names, making it ideal for beginners who want to get started at a low cost.

With our Linux web hosting packages, you can also work with Node.js and Python. These programming languages enable a wide range of applications and can now also be run at MijnHostingPartner.nl.

Want to switch packages?

If you are already a customer with us and would like to switch from your current Windows web hosting package to a Linux web hosting package, this is of course possible. Please note, however, that these are completely different servers. The website and database data will be lost during this switch. It is therefore necessary to back up everything you want to store on it locally. This way, you can publish it again after the transfer.

We can separate and reconnect emails after the transfer, so you don't have to worry about that.

It is possible for us to transfer this data as well, but this involves additional work for us. If you would like to outsource this to us, please create a ticket with the help desk. We will then take a closer look at your current data usage/data structure and provide you with a cost estimate.

We would love to hear your thoughts on this development!
