Google AdSense Angebotswand

Google AdSense has launched a new beta program for a new type of ad. In this blog post, we want to take a quick look at exactly what kind of ads this is. And how you as a website owner can benefit from it to generate more revenue from Google AdSense ads.

What is the Offerwall Beta Program?

The Offerwall Beta program offers you the opportunity to generate more revenue from your most engaged users when you place Google AdSense ads on your website.

Easily create new revenue models for visitors who regularly visit your website.

How does it work?

Users can view your content freely until they reach a page view limit you set.

Once they reach this limit, your Offerwall will be displayed to them.

If a user wants to see a short ad (maximum 30 seconds, video or image), they will immediately be given access to the website again.

If they do not want to see an ad, access will be restricted until the next month or until they do see the ad.

If your website(s) that use Google AdSense are eligible for the Offerwall program, you will have received an email about it, which also explains how to activate it. You need to set this feature under the ad types in your account.

New ad type for users who stay longer on the website

The Offerwall ads are therefore shown to users who stay longer on your website and, depending on the number of page views, an ad is shown that cannot be skipped or ignored. It is therefore an ad that can be quite intrusive and similar to the ads that appear on sites such as YouTube. Whether this will benefit the user experience of website visitors remains to be seen, but there is a suspicion that this may not be a step in the right direction. Rather, this could have a negative impact on website operators, especially smaller websites where this is active. Users might be more inclined to switch to another source rather than accept rampant advertising.

The flip side of the coin is that it may also be more convenient for users if you turn on Offerwall ads and limit the regular ads afterward. By only seeing a short ad, they can use your website undisturbed or less disturbed by ads.

Ad blockers and website operators

With the blocking of ad blocker support in Google Chrome and other Chromium browsers, users who use ad blockers have been dealt a blow. And many who used ad blockers have subsequently abandoned them or switched to another browser that supports them. The battle raging between both sides, users and website operators, is in many cases not a black and white issue. And both sides are often right: website operators cannot run their websites for free, and users who can no longer use a website properly because of all the advertising are also right to want to block it. A happy medium is therefore often the goal, with advertising that is relevant and does not interfere with the viewing of content, and which gives website operators the opportunity to generate revenue.

So opinions are very divided here, and we have also covered the Brave Browser as an option in this context in previous blog posts. The Brave Browser is also based on Chromium and blocks all advertising, but also has the Brave Rewards/Advertising System. This allows users to donate BAT cryptocurrencies to websites. This keeps both sides happy. The downside, however, is that crypto BAT often fluctuates wildly and is not a long-term option for many.
